Man Who Ate His Ex-Girlfriend’s Heart, Lungs And Brains Is Jailed For Life

A cannibal killer has been jailed for life for murdering his ex-girlfriend and eating parts of her body.

Evil Joseph Oberhansley killed Tammy Jo Blanton and mutilated her body before eating parts of it.

Officials discovered the badly mutilated body of Blanton on September 11, 2014, in Jefferson, Indiana.

Parts of the 46-year-old victim's skull was found on a plate beside a skillet and a pair of tongs covered in blood.

The rest of her body was found during a bath. According to the police, she was also raped during the brutal attack.

At an earlier hearing, investigators said the crime scene was “worst than a horror movie

Oberhansley blamed the sickening murder on "two black guys"

Blanton’s body was found with quite 25 sharp force injuries and several blunt force injuries, consistent with police. A bloody knife and frypan were also discovered at the scene of the gruesome crime.

The American has been jailed for all times without parole after being found guilty of murder and burglary on September 18.

Clark Circuit Judge Vicki Carmichael has now sentenced Oberhansley based on a jury recommendation.

Police say Oberhansley, 36, murdered Ms. Blanton on September 11, 2014, after breaking into her home in southern Indiana. He then proceeded to eat parts of her body, including her brain, lungs, and heart.

Oberhansley pleaded his innocence despite previously admitting the murder to officers.

Ms. Blanton's mother branded Oberhansley "pure evil" as he was sentenced.

She said: "I want you to look me in the eye and tell me you probably did not do that. You're just pure evil, and you're just lucky to be ready to live out your life breathing."

Another loved one blasted: "You are a monster. Rot in hell."

Police have previously said he admitted to the crimes, including "cooking a neighborhood of her brain and eating it".

Witnesses included two officers who skilled Ms. Blanton's home on the day of the killing and a 911 emergency services dispatcher who fielded the victim's call.

She told the dispatcher that Oberhansley was trying to break into her home.

An officer who arrested him told jurors that they found a knife and a brass knuckle device in his pocket that had blood and blonde hair on that.

At the time of the murder, Oberhansley was free on parole for fatally gunning down his girlfriend Sabrina Elder, 17, in a drug-fuelled jealous rage in 1998.

He also shot his mother in the back and fired at his sister before tucking the weapon under his chin and pulling the trigger to offer himself a 'partial lobotomy'.

In November 2018 it had been declared Oberhansley was competent to face trial after initial doubts about his psychological state.

Oberhansley has already said he will appeal his conviction. He had also been charged with rape but was found not guilty on that count.
